Intake needs can vary for each individual, so it’s important to discuss any concerns with your doctor. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA, the recommended intakes are as follows:

- Ages 9–13 years: 120 mcg
- Ages 14–18 years: 150 mcg
- Adults: 150 mcg
- Pregnant women: 220 mcg
